October 23, 2023 WATERFRONT PARK ELOPEMENT IN SAN DIEGO, CA | KATHERINE & KARIM

How do you blend East Coast charm with West Coast cool on your special day? Simple. Hire a New England florist who will ship a preserved bouquet your way! When the bride is from CT and the groom is from New Jersey and they both reside in CA, their wedding ensemble was the perfect marriage of coastal details and classic East Coast style giving this elopement the best of both worlds and a little piece of home. Both Katherine and Karim grew up on the East Coast and wanted to incorporate some of the more traditional East Coast elements from the New England beaches. Their sentimental elopement in San Diego was intentionally romantic with what I like to call a bohemian flair. Loreta Daka Floral Boutique created the perfect balance of romance and love-infused details to personalize their preserved floral pieces. An up-right heirloom bouquet for the bride and a dried-out bout for the groom! A preservation that stood the test of time and was purposely made with love, shipped across the country, and intended to be cherished and displayed for years to come in the bride and groom's home. They exchanged vows under a towering pergola teeming with greenery at the San Diego Courthouse with their son, the bride's mom, and the groom's sister standing by their side (now that's what I call a minimony). Katherine and Karim then stepped out to take photos right after the ceremony across the way at The Waterfront Park in San Diego. Escape to the little waterfront oasis in California by scrolling down to see the full gallery. A special thanks to Aga Jones Photography - Aga, I don’t know what I’d do without you!

Thank you!

THE LOVE STORY

Katherine and Karim met on December 8, 2018, about five years ago at a local bar in Pacific Beach named "Tavern at the Beach." Katherine and her friend decided to go out for the night but before heading back home to Escondido, they stopped for one more drink. That's when Katherine saw Karim at the bar and complimented him on his watch. He replied, "it's fake", grabbed a drink and returned to the dance floor. Katherine turned around and saw him looking at her but at the same time another guy was trying to get Katherine's attention to dance with him. Katherine shook her head and pointed to Karim saying, "I'm with HIM 👉. . ." Katherine walked over to Karim, and started dancing. After a long night of fun, they exchanged numbers and Karim introduced Katherine to his friends at breakfast the next morning at a diner called "Breakfast Republic."

THE PROPOSAL STORY

"Karim proposed to me on December 13, 2021, at a restaurant we go to every year to celebrate for our anniversary called "Pushkin Hooka Bar & Lounge" in downtown San Diego. We ordered dinner and a bottle of wine. Then he popped the question after asking the waiter to take some pictures of us." - Katherine, Bride

INSPIRATION BEHIND KATHERINE & KARIM'S WEDDING DAY

"I wanted florals that would last a lifetime. A friend inspired me to opt for dried bouquet and helped me pick out the flowers from Loreta, a floral designer in CT; given that we both are from the East Coast and wanted a little slice of home. I chose the ribbon color to match Karim's tux. - Katherine, Bride

specialty flowers and fillers that were utilized in these elopement arrangements were sola wood, dired straw flower, dried spiral eucalyptus, lunaria, bunny tails, dried copper beach burgundy, pampas grass, wheat, bleached italian rusucus, and massiama
