AN ODE TO GRANDMOTHER'S FAVORITE COLOR FOR V-DAY! ~ A FEBRUARY WEDDING AT BILL MILLER'S CASTLE | ESTERA & CHRIS

In today's blog post, I am sharing this fabulous wedding at Bill Miller's Castle and a tasteful way to incorporate red, pink, and every color in-between as a nod to Valentine's Day, into your February wedding without going overboard! With Valentine's Day around the corner, a holiday synonymous with love and commitment, Estera and Chris wanted to add the color red into their arrangements to show their love and affection for one another excluding Valentine's Day decor motifs that felt trite and forced. The inspiration behind these fiery florals stemmed from Estera's beloved grandmother who passed away on Valentine's Day in 2020. Her grandmother adored deep red roses and since their nuptials were approaching around the time of the symbolic holiday, they wanted to highlight the color R E D to honor her. One of the most obvious ways to integrate red into your palette is through floral design. However, it's easy to go over the top in this area if it's not done right. I've learned that "less is more" especially when it comes to a strong design. Just a few POP's of color against a neutral palette is all you need to capture someone's eye! If it's not in the florals, tabletop decor or linen at your reception is a fun way to blend the color red with other bright colors without taking it to the extreme! From pale pink runners to tinges of red foliage in the centerpieces, guests will love the design as they gather around the table to eat. Blush, pink, rose gold, or red taper candles is another festive way to add POP's of color and a little holiday cheer into your design! Let's talk wardrobe! Introducing the color red into your attire, is one way to bring a variety of stunning shades of pink, red, maroon, and burgundy into your theme! Whether it be the makeup you wear 💄, bridesmaids dresses, or the groomsmen's bow-ties; the entire wedding party will look sharp dressed to the Nines in lush shades of red. The truth is you don’t need candy hearts and boxes of chocolate to scream ‘love is in the air’ or ‘Valentine’s’ 💌 on your big day!

Lastly, let's discuss ribbon. You all know how much I ADORE Emmalinhco ribbon! Jessica Angell @emmalinhco on Etsy is my go-to for vibrant buttery soft ribbons! Adding red velvet ribbons to Estera's bouquet was the finishing touch that it needed and is another exciting way to bring out the color red that you might be looking for on your wedding day! Remember, a little goes a long way. I urge all my brides to consider implementing these simplistic ideas and to make room for neutral colors to fill in the rest! These type of refined changes will bring a sophisticated elegance to your special day without going over and beyond with the theme for Valentine's Day!

THE LOVE STORY

Estera and Chris attended the same college in Florida but he graduated before Estera ever met him in person. Not a day went by that Estera didn't see him on campus without a smile on his face. Chris moved back to Connecticut where he was from and two years later, Estera came to intern in the same area that Chris resided in. Estera went back home to finish another year of college. They started texting daily over Christmas break in 2021 and did so ever since. When Estera graduated, she got a job at the same company that Chris worked at and moved into the area in May of 2022. At first, she wanted to keep things simple until she got to know him better. However, one time they were at a party and someone asked Chris if Estera was his wife and another person asked if she was his girlfriend. Estera realized how pointless it would be to stay "friends" as there was an undeniable chemistry and attraction between the two. Estera gradually fell for him. They started dating, fell madly in love, and now have the rest of their love story to live!

THE PROPOSAL STORY

"Chris and I went to Canada this past July so that he could meet my family. My parents had sold the house I grew up in during my teenage years. That was the last time I had gone to visit the house we resided in, so while we were there, I took Chris to see the it. I ended up showing him a tree that I had told him about on the property, that I would climb up and read in that held a lot of nostalgia for me. Well, I didn't realize that he was going to propose to me. Just as he was about to pop the question, a mosquito bit him on the cheek and so I swatted his face! He wasn't expecting my reaction, so he waited another moment for better timing. Then he dropped down on one knee and asked if I would make memories with him forever for the rest of our lives." - Estera, Bride

INSPIRATION BEHIND ESTERA & CHRIS' WEDDING DAY

"My grandma passed away on February 14, 2020 (Valentine's Day), and she loved fiery red flowers but especially deep red roses. She was one of the most elegant women I've ever known, and I thought it would be appropriate to incorporate some red flowers in my February wedding arrangements." - Estera, Bride

specialty flowers and fillers that were utilized in these wedding arrangements were eucalyptus gumdrop green, anemone hot pink, ruscus israeli green, crimon red, baby's breath, rose dark x pression, hypericum true romance, alstro nadya, tulip white, red carnations, evergreens, protea pink mink, and dianthus
